Supporting and Serving Our Local Schools
Our local schools are at the heart of our community, and they play a vital role in educating, impacting, influencing, and shaping the lives of children. In this day and age, those within our schools need our prayers more than ever, and we are encouraging our churches to take the time to lift them up on a daily basis throughout the 2015-2016 school year. Please click on the link below to view our prayer guide.
Additional Opportunities to Serve Our Schools
  •  Purchase products that contain a Box Tops Label like the one above. Cut the Box Top Label and send to school with your child, give directly to the school office, or bring Box Tops by the TVBA office, and we will turn them in to the schools. The school will receive 10 cents for every label received to buy needed items, and they add up fast! Click here to see a flyer containing more information or visit www.boxtops4education.com. For a complete list of products containing Box Top Labels, please click here.
  • Donate backpacks and school supplies, especially at the start of a new school year. One way to do so is by participating in the Rhea County United Way's annual Stuff The Bus, Give a Kid a Chance Day. For more information related to this visit the United Way website. Also, consider obtaining a supply list for the school and grade you would like to donate to and use that as a guideline in purchasing items.
  • Periodically offer handwritten notes of encouragement to staff and teachers.
  • Give a gift card to a teacher. Many teachers spend money out-of-pocket for classroom supplies. Suggestions includes gift cards to Walmart, Southern Office Supply, Staples, OfficeMax/Office Depot, The School Box, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's, Michaels, etc.
  • Prayerwalk or prayerdrive near the campus of the school closest to your home or church.
  •  Ask principals or individual teachers for a "wish list" of desired items.
  • Provide food for teachers. Examples include snacks for the teachers' lounge, catering breakfast or lunch, providing meals for Professional Development or Parent/Teacher Conference days, etc. Always try and coordinate with school administration as to when would be the best day and time.
  • Attend athletic events, performances, plays, and concerts to show your support for the school.
  • Sponsor fundraisers or drives and donate the proceeds to one of our schools.
  • Attend PTO and school board meetings to show support for our schools and to learn more of their needs and ways to get involved.
